Telangana doctors feel betrayed due to administrative inaction

Hyderabad: Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) has expressed serious concern over prolonged administrative delays in salaries and postings.

In an official press statement, the association highlighted two key issues: the non-issuance of posting orders for Civil Surgeons and Deputy Civil Surgeons under the Directorate of Health (DH), and delayed salaries for doctors working under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP).

Posting Orders Stuck Despite Completed Promotions

According to TGGDA, the promotion process for Civil Surgeons and Deputy Civil Surgeons was completed several months ago, but the government has not yet released the corresponding posting orders. The association said this delay has led to uncertainty and frustration among doctors awaiting their new assignments.

“The delay has not only affected the rights of the doctors but has also demoralised many of them who have been waiting for months to assume their new roles,” the statement read.

Salary Delays and Structural Concerns in TVVP

The association also pointed out that doctors working under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad continue to face irregular salary disbursements. Many have reportedly not received their monthly pay on time, causing financial strain.

To address this, TGGDA has urged the state government to restructure the organisation. “To ensure timely and regular salary payments to all TVVP doctors, the Government should convert the organisation into the Directorate of Secondary Health Services (DSHS) and bring it under the 010 budget,” the association stated.

Staff Shortages in Transferred Hospitals

Another major issue raised by TGGDA is the shortage of medical staff in nearly 80 hospitals that were transferred from the Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare (DPHFW) to TVVP. The association noted that the reallocation of staff has not been completed, resulting in operational difficulties across several government hospitals.

“The Commissioner’s office has been displaying negligence, shifting the blame onto the DSH file. This has resulted in severe disruption of hospital services and has drawn heavy criticism from the public as well as public representatives,” the statement said.

Appeal for Immediate Government Intervention

Calling for swift administrative action, TGGDA has requested that the government issue an ordinance to convert the TVVP into the Directorate of Secondary Health Services. The association stated that such a move would streamline administrative functioning and improve service delivery.

“TGGDA strongly requests the Government to immediately issue an ordinance converting the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) into the Directorate of Secondary Health Services (DSH),” the association reiterated.

In conclusion, the doctors’ body appealed directly to the Health Minister. “TGGDA appeals to the Health Minister, Damodara Rajanarasimha Garu, to intervene urgently and resolve these long-pending issues in the interest of doctors and the public health system of Telangana,” the statement added.

The press note was signed by Dr. B. Narahari (President), Dr. Lalu Prasad Rathod (Secretary General), and Dr. M. K. Rauf (Treasurer) on behalf of the Telangana Government Doctors Association’s state team.
