The 4 Best Star Wars Movies Are Getting a New Streaming Home
Star Wars fans are in for some fantastic treats this May, which already includes the highly anticipated release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. As part of the acclaimed franchise, the sci-fi film serves as a follow-up to the Disney+ hit series The Mandalorian, which ran from November 12, 2019, to April 19, 2023. Pedro Pascal will return as the title character, a.k.a. Din Djarin, co-starring with Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver. The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. on May 22, 2026; before then, however, fans will be able to stream four of the franchise’s best films on the same platform.
As recently reported, Hulu has added the original Star Wars trilogy and a spin-off anthology film to its May catalog, days before the long-awaited Star Wars Day. With that said, from May 1, 2026, Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, alongside Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will begin streaming on Hulu. All four movies are among the highest-rated in the franchise, with A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back taking the top two spots on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting 94% and 93% respectively.

Along the way, he trains in the ways of the Force, ultimately seeking to redeem his father, Darth Vader (James Earl Jones), and bring peace to the galaxy. Rogue One, on the other hand, serves as a direct lead-in to A New Hope, bridging the events after Revenge of the Sith and dramatizing how the Rebels secured the Death Star plans — ending just moments before the 1977 Star Wars classic begins.
The first Star Wars film was released in May 1977 to both critical and commercial success, and three years later, The Empire Strikes Back followed, also earning widespread acclaim. Return of the Jedi arrived in May 1983 and, while still successful, became the lowest-grossing entry in the original trilogy. Thirty-three years later, Rogue One premiered as the franchise’s first anthology film, grossing over $1 billion worldwide and inspiring the critically acclaimed prequel TV series Andor, which aired on Disney+ for two seasons from 2022 to 2025.
The original Star Wars trilogy and its 2016 spin-off will arrive on Hulu on May 1.
