Bose knows how to make products that stand the test of time and very much follow the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mantra. The Bose SoundLink Micro has been around since 2017, but it has been such a hit that they’ve yet to make a second generation. Right now, you can get one from Walmart for $49 (originally $119), the lowest price it has been sold anywhere, according to price-tracking tools. Only the blue color is on sale, but at half the price of the other options, blue is looking pretty good right now.

Right away, you’ll notice two aspects of the SoundLink Micro that show its age: the charging port and the battery. It has a micro USB port, so charging won’t be as quick as USB-Cs are these days. Also, the battery only gets you a max of six hours (competitors like the JBL 4 Clip get you 10). But that’s where the cons end.

Portable speakers this size don’t usually have speakerphone microphones, but you’ll be able to take phone calls with the SoundLink Micro. You’ll also be able to make smart-assistant requests with it (they’ll be connected to your smartphone). The Bluetooth multipoint connection lets you connect up to two devices at the same time (e.g., your phone and a laptop) so you can switch between them seamlessly. With Party Mode, you can sync two SoundLink speakers and even play them as stereo.

But the best feature of this small speaker is its strong sound for its size. It has rich lows and well-defined highs, according to PCMag’s “excellent” review. Because of its IPX7 rating, it is fully waterproof, and the flap makes it perfect to attach to a bike’s handlebars. For its size, sound, and current price, there’s no better bang for your buck for a small portable speaker than the SoundLink Micro.
