  • Studio: Studio Hibari

Yura Urushibara’s dark fantasy manga, Tougen Anki, is coming to life with an anime adaptation by Studio Hibari. Tougen Anki remains a popular title among shonen fans, and my Editor is also a fan of the series. With the anime airing this summer, this new Shonen series is all set to win the hearts of anime fans with its dark fantasy action.

Tougen Anki follows the tale of Shiki Ichinose, who seeks revenge after his father was massacred by a Momotaro. Before Shiki avenges his father’s death, he has to master the powers of Oni, as he has the oni blood within him. While this is a cliched revenge-driven plot, the characters and the action sequences will shine bright in the upcoming anime.

Once again, my Editor has been recommending the Gachiakuta manga to me for months, and the electrifying previews of the Gachiakuta anime have finally caught my attention.

If you aren’t aware, this manga is created by Kei Urana, the assistant of Atsushi Ohkubo, the author of Fire Force. Atsushi publicly declared Kei Urana as his successor, and her first work, Gachiakuta, became a modern fan favorite series.

Gachiakuta follows the life of Rudo, who lives with the poor in the slums. His life is turned upside down when he is unjustly charged with murder. So, Rudo seeks revenge against those monsters who blamed him and joins the Cleaners to rebel against the oppressors and the beasts in this world.

Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 is one of the promising next-gen manga titles that will save the future of shonen. After five years, the manga is about to reach its conclusion in July 2025.

The first season ended with a massive cliffhanger where Kafka gets arrested after his Kaiju secret is exposed to the Defense Force.
