TTGDA urges govt to clear long-pending dues of Telangana doctors

Hyderabad: The Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) submitted a formal representation to the Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana, seeking early clearance of long-pending financial dues related to teaching government doctors across the State.

Rs 700 crores per month

In the representation, the association acknowledged the State government’s ongoing efforts to address pending payments.

“We are encouraged to learn that the Government is proactively releasing Rs 700 crores per month towards clearing long-pending financial dues, and we sincerely appreciate this initiative,” the association stated.

However, the doctors’ body highlighted several unresolved issues that continue to affect its members:

1. UGC PRC arrears pending

Raising concerns over University Grants Commission Pay Revision Commission (UGC PRC) arrears, the association noted that a Government Order issued in 2024 approved the release of arrears from 2016 in 36 instalments. Despite this, progress has been slow.

“While many of our members have submitted up to 21 bills, only three to four instalments have been credited so far in most cases,” the association said, urging the government to expedite the remaining payments on a priority basis.

2. DA arrears from 2022

The association also flagged pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears linked to four revisions from 2022. According to the representation, the arrears amount to nearly Rs 2 lakh per employee.

“These pending DA arrears have placed a significant financial burden on our members,” the association stated, requesting that the dues be cleared at the earliest.

3. Incomplete CPS credits

Another major concern raised was the shortfall in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) credits. The association pointed out that many teaching doctors have received only about 70 per cent of their entitled CPS contributions.

“Credits for the year 2024 and for years before 2020 have not been fully deposited,” the letter said, calling for immediate reconciliation and credit of the missing amounts.

Pending GPF and CPS withdrawals

The TTGDA further highlighted that many partial GPF and CPS withdrawal applications have been pending for several years.

“We request that these long-pending part GPF and CPS withdrawals be cleared as early as possible,” the association stated.

Appeal to the government

Appealing for timely intervention, the association said, “Prompt action on these issues will go a long way in boosting the morale of teaching government doctors who continue to serve the state diligently.”

Copies of the representation were marked to the Principal Secretary, Finance Department; the Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare; and the Director of Medical Education, Telangana.
