In an evolving world, emerging research continues to highlight concerns that could impact everyday wellbeing. Here’s the key update you should know about:
9 Years of ADHM vs Shivaay Clash:
Nine years ago, Bollywood witnessed one of its biggest box office clashes when Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) released alongside Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay on October 28, 2016. The clash between these two big-ticket films had the entire industry watching closely, but in the end, Ranbir Kapoor’s romantic drama clearly emerged as the winner.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil opened with strong numbers, earning ₹13.04 crore on its first day and collecting ₹34.67 crore over its opening weekend. The film went on to earn ₹106 crore in India and a solid ₹229 crore worldwide, with total footfalls of around 1.05 crore. The film was declared a HIT at the box office.
In contrast, Ajay Devgn’s ambitious action adventure Shivaay had a lower opening of ₹9.19 crore and managed an opening weekend of ₹23.8 crore. Despite its large scale and heavy visual effects, the film collected ₹84 crore in India and ₹124 crore worldwide, with footfalls of 94 lakh. It was rated Below Average which means an unsuccessful venture, due to its high production cost and limited repeat value.
While Shivaay was praised for its visuals and action sequences, it failed to connect emotionally with the audience. On the other hand, ADHM benefitted from chartbuster music, a strong emotional core, and the sizzling chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Ranbir and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The 2016 Diwali clash remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about battles — and even after nine years, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil stands tall as the clear box office winner. We might see Ranbir and Ajay locking horns again next year on Eid if Love and War and Dhamaal 4 both don’t move from Eid release. Will Ranbir will the clash again or Ajay make it level?
