Our reviewer, who opted to test a pretty sage green set, was instantly impressed with the feel, color options (there are over 25 different shades to choose from) and breathability, even after two wash and dry cycles.
While we didn’t notice any pilling or shrinkages during the one-week testing period, the sheets were not wrinkle-resistant like the brand advertised. We also found slight color-fading after two washes which might be more prominent if you go for a brighter shade.
The brushed polyester microfiber material also isn’t known for its cooling properties, and may be unsuitable for those prone to overheating or nightsweats. Thread count is the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into one square inch of fabric.
It denotes the feel and softness of materials like cotton, bamboo or tencel. However, a higher thread count does not necessarily mean better quality.
“While it’s often marketed as a sign of quality, thread count alone doesn’t determine how soft, breathable, or durable sheets are,” says Byron Golub, Vice President of Product and Merchandising at Saatva.
