Historical drama series Medici

MIPCOM: FilmRise, the AVoD streaming company and studio owned by US-based Radial Entertainment, has picked up the exclusive digital distribution rights in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Latin America to a package of 15 romance and holiday movies from Studio TF1 America.

In addition, the company is expanding its distribution rights for true-crime series Millionaire Murders to include Germany, Switzerland and Austria through a deal with UK-based distributor Sphere Abacus. The deals were announced on the first day of Mipcom.

The 10×60’ project, produced by Phoenix Television, investigates cases of wealthy individuals whose lives are cut short under mysterious and often sinister circumstances.

As well, FilmRise expanded the rights for historical drama series Medici to include the UK, Ireland and Spain, in addition to the US, Canada and Caribbean, via a pact with Bruder Releasing.

Set during the Italian Renaissance, and starring Dustin Hoffman and Richard Madden, Medici follows a son who finds himself thrust into a leading role in his wealthy and powerful family of bankers when his father suddenly dies.

“We’re constantly seeking compelling content that connects with audiences around the world,” said Jonitha Keymore, senior VP of content acquisitions at Radial Entertainment.

“True crime and historical drama series continue to captivate viewers and we’re also seeing a growing demand for uplifting, feel-good films that offer hope and inspiration.”
