The issue is with the hydraulic control unit (HCU), which has been found to be susceptible to malfunction, resulting in a reduction or other change in performance for these key safety systems.
A failing HCU may be indicated by intermittent ABS and traction problems, leading up to a permanent failure. A warning light will illuminate in the instrument cluster when the antilock system is inoperative. Any impact on a braking or stability control system risks a crash.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 9, 2025.
Dealerships have been directed to issue a stop-sale on impacted vehicles until repairs are made.
The automaker is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition.
