SHM promises that the car will be dripping with cutting-edge technology, drawing on the expertise of the entertainment and automotive companies. An array of 40 sensors, including cameras, radar, LIDAR, and ultrasonic—along with a high-powered AI-assisted computer—will handle what the manufacturer is calling a Level 2+ autonomous driving experience.
An array of large screens spans the dash, while rear-seat passengers get their own pair if you pony up for the Signature edition. An “Unreal Engine” gaming system is the cherry on top, promising advanced 3D graphics and infotainment capabilities. And with its North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatibility, the Afeela 1 can be charged on Tesla’s Supercharger network of DC fast chargers. It can also be charged with a CCS charger.
Based on what we know so far, the Afeela 1 is a bit of a headscratcher because the sum of its parts doesn’t add up to its nearly $90,000 starting price. That includes its approximately 300-mile driving range (the $70,000 Lucid Air Pure boasts 420 miles and the $73,000 Tesla Model S claims 402 miles) as well as its generic appearance. The Afeela 1 launches in California this year with the $102,900 Signature trim, followed in 2027 with the $89,900 Origin. The base Origin trim is available in any color—inside and out—as long as it’s black.
Quite simply, there are other electric luxury models on the market that offer a lot more value for what is—for most people—a huge pile of money. There are also numerous EVs that offer more at lower prices. Here’s what we know so far:
What it competes with: Audi A6 E-Tron, Genesis Electrified G80, Lucid Air, Tesla Model S
Powertrains: 482-hp, dual electric motors; 91-kWh battery; 1-speed direct drive; all-wheel drive
Price: $89,900–$102,900
On sale: Mid-2026 (Signature); 2027 (Origin)
