Movie With Will Smith’s Oscar Winning Role To Hit Netflix Soon

Netflix is loading up its November lineup with a crowd-pleasing mix of classics, comedies, and award-winning dramas. Among them is King Richard, the biographical sports drama that earned Will Smith his long-awaited Oscar.

Will Smith-led King Richard to stream on Netflix very soon

Starting November 2, 2025, Netflix subscribers in the U.S. will be able to watch King Richard, the critically acclaimed film that won Will Smith his first Academy Award for Best Actor. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the movie tells the inspiring true story of Richard Williams, the father and coach of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams (via What’s on Netflix).

The 2021 film follows Richard’s tireless mission to train his daughters into world-class athletes, despite facing skepticism, racism, and financial struggles. Facing immense odds as a Black man in a predominantly white, affluent sport, Richard Williams proves to be persistent, shrewd, and unflappable.

He creates his own promotional materials and fearlessly courts top coaches, even if it means lightly trespassing to get his daughters noticed. The film doesn’t shy away from his flaws, but it consistently highlights his pure, if unorthodox, intentions.

The film also stars Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor as Oracene “Brandy” Price, Richard’s wife and mother to Venus and Serena. Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton shine as the young Williams sisters, supported by a strong ensemble including Jon Bernthal, Tony Goldwyn, Dylan McDermott, and Kevin Dunn.

King Richard earned praise for its insightful yet emotional storytelling and Will Smith’s transformative performance, which captured both Richard’s flaws and fierce devotion. The movie currently holds a Certified Fresh 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Smith swept major awards in 2022, including the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for Best Actor.

Alongside King Richard, Netflix’s November slate includes fan-favorite titles like the Back to the Future trilogy, Charlie’s Angels, Frances Ha, Dr. Dolittle (Parts 1 & 2), The Hangover trilogy, This Is the End, Manodrome, and Moulin Rouge!.
